A hit-and-run victim was arrested Saturday after he attacked a good Samaritan and responding officers, according to Miami Police spokesperson Kenia Reyes.

Evan Eisler Oberfelder, 23, of Irving, Texas, was hit by a taxi at 5:40 a.m. Saturday on the 1800 block of North Bayshore Drive, according to police. The taxi driver is still at large.

City of Miami Police and Fire Rescue responded to the scene after reports of a female screaming for help.

When they arrived, they found Oberfelder, bloody and partially naked, fighting with a man who had apparently stopped to offer assistance after the hit-and-run, according to the arrest report.

The victim told police he tried to help Oberfelder who suffered from a head injury, but he began hitting the victim in the face and head.

Police say the victim tried to flee but Oberfelder pursued him, attacking him with his hands and feet. Oberfelder physical restrained the victim, cops say, kicking him in the groin and possibly fracturing his hand.

When Oberfelder saw the officers, he said “You called the police? I hate the police!” according to the report.
