Pony mutilated by “sadistic monster” attempting to remove its micro-chip

Animal welfare workers have blasted a “sadistic monster” that used back street surgery to remove a micro-chip from an unwanted pony.

The brute attempted to dump the creature after removing the micro chip, leaving the female pony with a weeping wound.

The pony was taken off the Cooley Mountains after a member of the public saw she was injured and rang the Louth county vet Garrett Shine.

When he took her off the mountain he found a wound in her neck about 3-4 inches in diameter.

Mr Shine said: “It is a deep wound and a very discrete wound in a very particular area, more or less exactly where someone would have implanted a chip.”

He believes that because the horse was dumped it does arouse major suspicion that this was an “attempt to remove any identification before dumping it”
