WARNING: Some of these photos are extremely graphic.

A Texas couple has been arrested for allegedly starving their 5-year-old son and locking him in a closet under the stairs of their home in Spring, about 24 miles north of Houston, according to investigators.

Bradley Bleimeyer, 24, and the boy’s stepmother, 33-year-old Tammi Bleimeyer, have been charged with one count each of felony child endangerment.

“I’ve never seen anything like this in 28 years of law enforcement,” Chief Mark Herman, Harris County Constable, Precinct 4, told HLN.

The saga began when Harris County Constable Precinct 4 deputies responded to a disturbance call at the couple’s home on March 27.

Upon arrival, police said they found the Bleimeyers’ 16-year-old son arguing on the front lawn about the alleged abuse and neglect of a 5-year-old child.

During the investigation, police said they learned Bradley Bleimeyer’s 5-year-old son was forced to live in a closet under the stairs, according to a police press release.

A man dressed as Spider-Man was arrested on charges he slugged a police officer who told him to stop harassing tourists in Times Square.

Junior Bishop, 25, of Brooklyn, was charged with assaulting an officer, resisting arrest and criminal mischief.

The New York Police Department said the officer assaulted Saturday — an 18-month veteran and one of about 50 officers patrolling the bustling tourist area — stepped in after Bishop demanded at least $5 from a woman he posed for a picture with, instead of the $1 tip she offered.

Police said a costumed Bishop “put out his hand and told the woman 5s, 10s or 20s only.” Police said the officer told him he could only accept tips — not require payment.

Bishop yelled and cursed at the officer, police said, and told him: “Mind your own (expletive) business.”

Police said the officer asked for identification and, when Bishop failed to produce any, moved to arrest him.

Bishop broke free and punched the officer in the face, police said, causing a cut and eye swelling.

The officer, whose name was not released, was treated and released at New York University’s Langone Medical Center.

Other officers arrived and hauled Spider-Man away.

Bishop’s mother answered the phone at their Brooklyn home late Saturday and said he was not home. She said she was not aware of his work in Times Square or his arrest. Information on Bishop’s lawyer was not available.

The arrest of Spider-Man, as police referred to Bishop throughout a matter-of-fact news release, came weeks after the New York City Council said it was considering legislation to regulate the costumed characters in Times Square.

It was the latest in a series of incidents involving men behind the masks.

In the last two years, a man dressed as Cookie Monster was charged with shoving a 2-year-old, a person attired in Super Mario’s overalls was accused of groping a woman and an Elmo figure pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct after unleashing an anti-Semitic tirade.

Rabbi Nuchem Rosenberg—who is 63 with a long, graying beard—recently sat down with me to explain what he described as a “child-rape assembly line” among sects of fundamentalist Jews. He cleared his throat. “I’m going to be graphic,” he said.

A member of Brooklyn’s Satmar Hasidim fundamentalist branch of Orthodox Judaism, Nuchem designs and repairs mikvahs in compliance with Torah Law. The mikvah is a ritual Jewish bathhouse used for purification. Devout Jews are required to cleanse themselves in the mikvah on a variety of occasions: Women must visit following menstruation, and men have to make an appearance before the High Holidays, such as Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. Many of the devout also purify themselves before and after the act of sex and before the Sabbath.

On a visit to Jerusalem in 2005, Rabbi Rosenberg entered into a mikvah in one of the holiest neighborhoods in the city, Mea She’arim. “I opened a door that entered into a schvitz,” he told me. “Vapors everywhere, I can barely see. My eyes adjust, and I see an old man, my age, long white beard, a holy-looking man, sitting in the vapors. On his lap, facing away from him, is a boy, maybe seven years old. And the old man is having anal sex with this boy.”

Rabbi Rosenberg paused, gathered himself, and went on: “This boy was speared on the man like an animal, like a pig, and the boy was saying nothing. But on his face—fear. The old man [looked at me] without any fear, as if this was common practice. He didn’t stop. I was so angry, I confronted him. He removed the boy from his penis, and I took the boy aside. I told this man, ‘It’s a sin before God, a mishkovzucher. What are you doing to this boy’s soul? You’re destroying this boy!’ He had a sponge on a stick to clean his back, and he hit me across the face with it. ‘How dare you interrupt me!’ he said.

With each day that goes by the murder of Mohamed Abu Khdeir becomes ever more bestial.  Haaretz reports (Hebrew print edition only so far) that before he was burned to death he was doused with gasoline and forced to drink the fluid.  No doubt, the killers wanted him to burn from the outside and inside:

According to Palestinian public prosecutor, the findings of the autopsy were that Abu Khdeir was struck on the head and then burned to death:  there were signs of ash in his lungs showing that he was alive when his body was incinerated.  The police investigation determined that the youth was forced to drink the gasoline used to set his body alight.

A rabbi in a settlement in Samaria has even spoken for hanging the suspects for their crime.  But that avoids the real heart of the problem: punishment isn’t the answer.  Solving the root causes of the conflict with justice and compromise from both sides.  That’s the way to end this insanity.

JP Morgan executive director Julian Knott blasted his wife Alita to death with a shotgun before turning the gun on himself.

The 45-year-old, who worked for the investment bank in London until July 2010, shot his 47-year-old wife multiple times before committing suicide with the same weapon.

The couple met in London, with Alita opening nursery Quayside Tots Playgroup in Southwick, West Sussex, before they moved to the United States.

She remained the playgroup’s care provider until at least February 2013, according to the nursery’s most recent Ofsted report.

Julian moved to the United States from London in 2010 and was working at JP Morgan’s Global Network Operations Center in Whippany, New Jersey, at the time of the tragedy.

(CNN) — A man shot and killed four children and two adults Wednesday at a Houston-area home belonging to relatives of his estranged wife, authorities said.

A seventh person, a 15-year-old girl, was critically wounded in the shooting near Spring, Texas, and taken to a local hospital.

Ron Lee Haskell was arrested after a three-hour standoff that followed a short chase with sheriff’s deputies. Haskell, 34, is being held on charges of capital murder, Harris County Precinct 4 Constable Ron Hickman said.

Killed were Stephen Stay, 39; Katie Stay, 33; two boys, ages 13 and 4; and two girls, ages 9 and 7, the Harris County Sheriff’s Office said.

Police said Haskell entered the home demanding to know the whereabouts of his estranged wife, who was not there.

The house belonged to relatives of Haskell’s spouse, and Haskell might have been an uncle by marriage to at least some of the children, but his relationship to everyone in the home wasn’t immediately clear, Hickman said.

“I’ve not personally in 40 years seen a tragedy in one family that’s this horrific,” he told reporters Thursday morning.

Authorities believe the suspect was prepared to take the lives of other relatives who lived nearby.

As the gunman left, one of the victims called police and notified “us of the location that she believed that he may go from there,” Hickman said.

“Grandparents were also targets of him,” Harris County Sheriff’s Sgt. Thomas Gilliland said. “Fortunately, they were brought out of the house before that could happen, (or) we would have had more tragedy.”

(CNN) — A woman whom police describe as a high-end prostitute is under arrest after they say she injected a Silicon Valley tech executive with heroin and then casually left as he lay dying.

Forrest Timothy Hayes, 51, had an “ongoing prostitution relationship” with Alix Catherine Tichleman, 26, when he was found dead November 23 aboard his 50-foot yacht in the Santa Cruz harbor, according to a police statement.

Detectives say security footage from the yacht shows Tichleman, who boasted of over 200 client relationships via a website called “Seeking Arrangements,” injecting Hayes with heroin.

How heroin kills you

“Rather than provide first aid or call 911, Ms. Tichleman proceeds to gather her belongings including the heroin and needles,” the police statement reads.

Tichleman stepped over Hayes’ body several times while gathering her belongings, at one point stepping over him to finish a glass of wine, police say.

They say the video finally shows her leaving the boat and then reaching back to lower a blind and conceal the victim’s body from outside view.

Georgia case reopened after alleged prostitute accused in yacht death

(CNN) — The death of a Google executive on a yacht is raising new questions about the death of a nightclub owner on the other side of the country — because of the possible role an alleged prostitute played in each case.

Alix Catherine Tichelman, 26, appeared in court Wednesday in Santa Cruz, California, where she faces a series of charges in the death of Forrest Timothy Hayes, 51. The married father of five was found dead in November on his 50-foot yacht. Authorities say Tichelman gave him an injection of heroin and then, as he began to die, she sipped her wine, gathered her belongings, and walked away.

She has not entered a plea.

Two months before Hayes died, Dean Riopelle, whom Tichelman identified online as her boyfriend, died at his home in Milton, Georgia. Tichelman was there at the time, and she called 911.

“Her story was: She was in the shower, heard a large crash, and then found him unconscious on the floor,” Capt. Shawn McCarty of Milton police told CNN Thursday.

“I think my boyfriend overdosed or something, he, like, he won’t respond,” she said in the brief call, shortly before hanging up.

The dispatcher called Tichelman back. Asked why she thought it was an overdose, Tichelman responded, “Because there’s nothing else it could be.” Asked whether it was accidental or intentional, she replied, “definitely accidental.” He was taking painkillers and “drinking a lot too,” she said.

The call cut off. The dispatcher tried at least twice more, but the phone rang and went to voicemail.

The medical examiner ruled Riopelle’s death an accidental overdose from heroin and alcohol. “At the time, we never thought anything different,” McCarty said.

BANGKOK – The rape and murder of a 13-year-old girl, who was shoved off a moving train on an overnight trip from southern Thailand, has sparked public outrage and calls for capital punishment for rapists.

The body of the girl was discovered early Tuesday morning near the train tracks in Prachuap Khirikhan province’s Pranburi district, said Police Col. Napanwut Liemsa-nguan, the commander of the police’s Children and Women Protection Division.

The girl, who was returning with her sisters from a visit to their grandmother, had disappeared Saturday night from a sleeping berth en route from the southern province of Surat Thai to the capital, Bangkok. The route is also popular among backpackers traveling back from Thailand’s island and beach resort destinations.
